hey everyone! i havent seriously been online for almost a month now. it feels so weird not to have internet...its like i have been detached from the world.
right now, its 13:44 (military time!) at cuhk and im at the arts library on campus. i met my art history professor today. she has a son that goes to caltech. i am not enrolled in any courses yet but i plan to take:
1. marketing management
2. economics of real estate
3. mandarin
4. chinese art history
anyways, two weeks ago, i went on a 5 day tour of beijing. i saw the great wall, forbidden city, tiannamman square, the summer palace (where the emperors are entertained by their concubines/wives during the summer), the ming tombs (its like the chinese version of the egyptian valley of the kings) and the temple of heaven (where the emperors pray to the gods). ive never been to china so it was a culture shock seeing so many chinese people. i learned how to do a couple of things in china: squat while i pee, bring pocket tissue, not let old ladies cut me in line at fast food restuarants, bargain, rinse my cup/bowl with hot tea before i eat out, my multiples of 8 (to estimate currency equivalence) and not let cars run me over (in china/hk, the cars have the right of way, not pedestrians).
i will write more once i get internet at my actual dorm, which i am actually moving into in two hours.
